MARCH 2008
SDS Global Logistics Purchases Global Delivery Systems

After many months of operating as the management company for Global Delivery Systems (GDS) SDS Global Logistics reached an agreement with GDS for the acquisition of its client base. GDS is a wholesaler of International Freight and Courier services for freight forwarders. GDS had been operating out of Jamaica, New York prior to reaching a management agreement with SDS in July of 2007. The acquisition introduces SDS into the wholesale segment of the freight forwarding business and will also provide leverage with line haul and delivery agents.

As part of the transaction, SDS named Bruce Benvenuti, formerly of GDS as a Senior Vice President of Wholesale Logistics. Mr. Benvenuti will be responsible for all SDS wholesale sales and operations and will work closely with Executive VP of Worldwide Operations, John Zahorodny. Mr. Benvenuti brings over 30 years of transportation experience with him to SDS.

Tony Racioppo, President and CEO of SDS said the deal gives his company "more vertical depth into the transportation industry and it provides key economies of scale in a tightening market."

SDS has been a leading provider of global logistics and transportation services for over 60 years. Fortune 500, major blue chip and other corporations and non-profits rely on SDS’s strong experience as a single source distribution provider. SDS services include: local messenger and trucking, mail pick up and delivery, interstate trucking, domestic and international air courier and freight, ocean freight, domestic and international mail, lettershop, warehouse storage and fulfillment and other specialized services.
